Description | 4 Hydroxymethyl 5 methylimidazole (CAS No: 29636-87-1) or (4-methyl-1H-imidazol-5-yl)methanol is a derivative of Cimetidine. Cimetidine exerts its assisting effects on acid-peptic disorders by blocking gastric acid secretion. The property of cimetidine to block histamine stimulated acid secretion is present due to its antagonistic effect at parietal cells H2 receptors. Cimetidine inhibits the effects of gastrin and acetylcholine by interrupting the pathway. |
