Description Cimetidine EP Impurity C (free base) (CAS No: 77076-18-7) or Cimetidine Amide Impurity is a minor impurity in Cimetidine. Cimetidine blocks microsomal metabolism. Due to this, cimetidine impairs the deletion of oral anticoagulants and the drug antipyrine from the bloodstream. Cimetidine is among the most widely used drugs. The ability of cimetidine to block histamine stimulated acid secretion is due to its antagonistic effect at H2 receptors of parietal cells.
