Description Lansoprazole EP Impurity D (CAS No: 615-16-7) or 2-Hydroxybenzimidazole chemically known as 1H-Benzimidazol-2-ol is an impurity formed during the synthesis of Lansoprazole that is a potent non-reversible gastric proton pump H+/K+-ATPase inhibitor, that is responsible for gastric acid secretion it is therefore used to treat and prevent gastrointestinal ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux disease.
